Traveling to Port McNeill & Sointula, Malcolm Island

By Air:

The closest airport to Port McNeill is Port Hardy (YZT), and flights from Vancouver’s south terminal are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes on Pacific Coastal Airlines.
Port Hardy airport is a 25 minute taxi ride to Port McNeill.

From Seattle, Kenmore Air offers float plane service to Port McNeill, and it may be possible to get charter a drop-off out to Malcolm Island.

Check out pricing…it might be a better option to fly into Comox or Campbell River and take a rental car from there.

By Car:

Once you have arrived on Vancouver Island, you will drive north to Port McNeill to catch another BC Ferry across to Malcolm Island.

From Victoria 6 hrs
From Nanaimo 4 hrs
From Campbell River 2 hrs

Please be aware that this ferry sometimes leaves 5-10 minutes early…for no apparent reason, so plan to get their ahead of sailing time.

By Bus:

Island Link Express Bus will get you from Vancouver Airport to Nanaimo only.  To continue north, you will need to connect with Island Coach Lines
(Greyhound).
