Qualicum Beach

The cluster of communities that hug the Eastern shoreline of Vancouver Island between Comox & Courtenay to the north, and Nanaimo to the south are wonderful locations to use a vacation rental property as a home base for exploring the area.

This oceanside community is a popular destination for families and retirees.  Ocean breezes in the summer and mild temperatures in the winter attract “snowbirds” from the rest of Canada on an annual migration away from the snow and ice!  The plethera of gently sloping beaches are ideal for beach combing, walking and bird watching.

Charming, Laid-Back, Relaxed
It must be the ocean air, and all the folks who are retired that help create the mellow and friendly atmosphere of the area.  Or perhaps the panoramic view of towering coastal mountains to the east, and Vancouver Island’s peaks to the west which remind the locals of how lucky they are!

Action and Adventure!
If you only like to relax while sleeping, do not despair!  The central area of Vancouver Island has a multitude of adventure activities.  Mountain bike trails, caving at Horne Lake, sea kayaking in Nanoose Bay, a day of surfing over in Tofino, hiking up Mount Arrowsmith, golfing one of the many many many courses, dozens of Provincial Parks within an hour’s drive, and scuba diving out of Nanoose Bay are just a few of the ways to stay active on your holiday.

Gardener’s Delight
Spring time here appears like a Dr. Seuss storybook to the first time visitor, with trees glowing different pink hues, bright red & purple rhododendrons line the yards and tulips & daffodils polka-dotting the landscape.  The temperate climate permits a year ‘round growing season, and seasoned gardeners harvest winter greens and early spring vegetables.  Residential roads and the main street are decorated with flower beds, hanging baskets and floral shrubs.

Central Location
The convenience of cities, airports and ferries are all close by.  Nanaimo, the main port for BC Ferries is just to the south;  Parksville has all your city amenities just 20 minutes away, Victoria is only a 2 hour drive, and Comox airport is home to Westjet for convenient flights directly to Alberta, Ontario and Eastern Canada.

Fresh, Local Seafood
Indulge in the opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood from your doorstep!  Island Scallops is located between Bowser and Qualicum Beach, Fanny Bay Oysters are world famous, and watch for signs promoting halibut and salmon sales.

Shopper’s Delight
The compact downtown is packed with unique stores, boutiques, cafe’s, delis, bookstores and artisan shops.  In a land where big box stores are not welcome, small and friendly business owners are happy to give you a personal hand and are always happy to see somebody new.
