Nanoose Bay

Nanoose Bay
Nanoose Bay is one of Vancouver Islands best-kept secrets. This “off-the-beaten-path” rural location is the perfect setting for water sports enthusiasts, golfers and even those wanting to come to enjoy some clam digging and a seafood barbeque.
Kayaking, Boating Adventures
Nanoose Bay is within a large peninsula’s protected harbour and therefore out of the way of major winds and currents. This long and protected harbour is a favourite for coastal boaters as it hosts an assortment of marinas…one with 400+ berths.  This area is also a short drive from both larger metro areas of Nanaimo and Parksville for shopping, dinners out or to catch a late night show. This area is an amazing location for an oceanside vacation as it offers an array of activities including hiking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, fishing and the simple pleasure of beach combing.
Gorgeous Coastal Golfing
If you are coming for a holiday spent on the greens, Nanoose Bay hosts one of the most spectacular coastal golfing settings on Vancouver Island. The course includes breathtaking ocean views, spectacular landscaping and impeccable grounds. The Fairwinds Gold and Country Club is a full 18-hole course with all amenities available.
Plethora of Trails
There are plenty of trails for walking, running and mountain biking.  Top Bridge Mountain Bike Park has more moderate rides to be enjoyed by those new to the area or sport.  For those looking for a tranquil forest hike, the Notch is one of the area’s well-know bush walks.

Rathrevor Beach Provincial Park, just outside Parksville, is an amazing beach combing area.  At low tide, the sand flats stretch for miles!  When the tide comes back in over the heat of the sand the ocean water is warmed up and wonderful for swimming and water lounging! In addition to its aqua environment the park is one of the most sought after hiking and walking areas on Vancouver Island. This is also a wonderful location for an afternoon out enjoying the water and packing a picnic lunch.

For those with a keen eye for a great photo the nearby Englishman River Falls Provincial Park is an amazing set of walking and hiking trails set up alongside a spectacular canyon sliced out of the rock by the fast moving waters of the river below.
