Sun-Soaked Deck Perched on Rocky Bluffs
The front of the cottage is lined with windows facing east, looking down on the sparkling waters and forest-lined shoreline of Quadra Island. Due to the high elevation, the home receives sunshine all day long from the moment it rises over the mountain range and eventually sinks into the Chinese Mountains that are in view off the side deck. From here you can plan out your kayak route..which islands to explore, what cove appears to have some seals swimming about, and where is that sandy beach we heard about? Or maybe just put another coffee pot on, relax, and watch the sailboats head over to Reed and Cortes Island.
Pathway with Staircase to the Beach
The owners have built an excellent pathway with stairs and railings that leads down through the forest, ferns and flowers to the beach below. It is illuminated with lights for evening excursions, and there is wonderful storage on a sheltered deck for kayaks and gear, with a fresh water tap for rinsing off the salt water.

The beach and rocks below are in constant change depending on where the tide is.
Layout Ideal for a Couple
The master bedroom has a Queen bed and ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom, or office, has a simple double futon, that makes a comfortable bed for travellers who prefer to sleep separately, or a second couple who don’t mind being cosy. The second bathroom is centrally located in the hallway that gives ample space between the communal area and the bedrooms.

Simple Furnishings
The cottage is simply furnished, with wicker chairs and a love seat by the wood fireplace. The kitchen is open concept to the living and dining area, with the view beyond the windows certainly the focal point. The bedrooms and living space all face the ocean, offering wonderful scenery from every room.
A drafting table in the living area offers a lovely space for artists, and the flat screen television has a DVD player for movies on rainy days.
Dial-Up Internet
Although this property is only several minutes drive from Heriot Bay’s amenities, the only internet available is dial-up, so plan to spend more time playing than working. Cell reception is good, and there is a telephone landline available.
Flowers & Chantrelles
Springtime brings a carpet of flowers to the moss growing on these rocky bluffs, and in the fall, chantrelle mushrooms may be harvested in nearby forests.
